The Science Center for Teaching, Outreach and Research on Meteorology (the STORM Project) was founded in August 2000 as a cooperative program between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Northern Iowa. The project seeks to initiate, support and coordinate education, service and research activities that relate weather information and conceptual models of the atmosphere to relevant user communities in Iowa and the nation.  Most recent STORM programming has focused on providing summer workshops and classroom materials for K-12 educators in the areas of weather forecasting and air quality.  Teachers from 31 states have participated in our summer air quality courses since 2006 and our online weather activities are used in classrooms throughout the United States.
