Guest Lecture: Jodi Eichler-Levine

"Wild Things and Chosen Children: How the Holocaust, Slavery and Lynching Haunt Children’s Literature" will be presented by Jodi Eichler-Levine, visiting scholar from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Her lecture considers how modern authors, including Maurice Sendak, Julius Lester, Jane Yolen and Virginia Hamilton have shaped our understanding of violence and oppression, as well as the broader themes of how we remember trauma, how suffering is expressed in American identity and the implications of such narratives for education and public life.
