Research Interests

My research interest is to investigate how to best prepare and support science teachers using research-based practices. I am pursuing three intertwined aspects of my overall interest: 1) Understanding the experiences and content knowledge gains of students when they engage in high impact practices such as research experiences and authentic research embedded within biology coursework, 2) Bridging the gap between research and practice to promote effective science teaching, and 3) Understanding the factors that impact science teachers' enactment of research-based science teaching practices.
