Mechanical Engineering Technology
Unlike a traditional mechanical engineering program, Mechanical Engineering Technology at UNI emphasizes hands-on engineering aspects. Students in this program focus less on the high-level math that you see in a typical mechanical engineering program, and instead, focus on the application of engineering concepts.
While Mechanical Engineering Technology students at UNI still focus on the engineering theory embedded in courses such as computer-aided design, thermodynamics, strengths of materials, and much more, the theory is taught with application in mind.
Graduates of the program work with mechanical engineers to design, develop, test, and manufacture machines, tools, and other mechanical devices to enhance engineering break throughs.
World-class facilities
UNI offers Iowa’s only on-campus Metal Casting Center. This facility is a nationally recognized leader in foundry research, applied technology & technical business assistance.
