“Recently, I received UNI's Floyd Research Fellowship, and through it, I’m conducting research to investigate the conditions under which bacteria colonize the caterpillar midgut. The professor I am working on the research with gives me a lot of freedom to run my project almost independently and values my insights. I feel as though I’m a vital part of the research team, and that my research experience is preparing me for an exciting career in the sciences.”
