Sade (Sha-day) joined the faculty in 2012 and leads the Department’s Speech Team. College Speech or forensics provides a unique opportunity for students to hone their researching, writing, and public speaking skills in a competitive environment. Speech is not just an outlet for creative expression it also serves as a professional training ground.

Recognized as an outstanding coach both regionally and nationally, Sade is active in several forensics organizations such as MAFL, AFA District committee, and NFA Council. Her research interests include comic books, horror films, gender, sexuality, and pop culture. She feels that through examining our cultural products we are more equipped to address issues of injustice. Sade enjoys live music, horror films, and videogames.

Teaching Interests

Sade’s teaching interests include courses in oral, intercultural, and interpersonal communication, as well as communication theories, leadership, and citizenship. Her speech experience informs her teaching in the way that she values engagement, discussion, and critical thinking in the classroom.
