Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Escalada, Professor of Physics and Science Education, has been the Chair of Science Education since August of 2013. He has been at UNI since 1997 with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Kansas State University. Escalada has taught high school physics in Topeka Kansas and now teaches introductory physics and physical science courses as well as secondary science methods courses. His research involves developing high school physics curricula including PRISMS PLUS and conducting professional development for secondary science teachers in addition to providing outreach opportunities for students including the State of Iowa Physics Competition. Dr. Escalada has received the UNI Regents Award for Faculty Excellence and the UNI Ross A. Nielson Professional Service Award for his work and efforts.
