Reservation and Contact Information

Science kits are available and can be reserved through our student staff by emailing YSERO@uni.edu or calling 319-273-6912 with your name, preferred kit(s) and desired reservation time(s). Contacting us well in advance is very desirable and recommended.

The Yager Science Education Resources and Outreach (YSERO) center is located in Room 160 McCollum Science Hall at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Student staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please note during the summer that student staff availability is limited.  In addition, since the staff are undergraduate students taking courses, participating in extracurricular activities, working other jobs, etc.; they may not be available at all times throughout the week.  Our student staff will respond as quickly as they can.  If you are UNI faculty, staff or students, it would be a good idea to email or call in your request.

Further information, as well as copies of our reservation letter and form, can be found below.

A science kit reservation information letter and reservation form contains information including the science kits available, times during the academic year they can be checked out, and checkout costs.  The reservation form is also available for teachers to provide their contact and mailing information, preferred kit(s) and desired reservation time(s).

The letter and form are sent out to administrators and teachers via email during the summer for reservations for the upcoming academic year.

If your school is within the Central Rivers Area Education Agency (AEA) region and your school has a contract with the AEA for delivery, requested kit(s) can be delivered to your school and returned for no charge.  If you don’t have a van delivery service contract, the AEA will charge you a fee for delivery to and from your school.  You can also make arrangements with UNI YSERO for you to pick up and return the requested science kit(s).  See reservation information letter for details.  UNI faculty, staff and students will have to make arrangements with our staff for pick up and return.

If you would like to be included in the email listserv that includes teachers and administrators, please contact our staff at YSERO@uni.edu
