Philosophy & World Religions
Inspired by inquiry.
When you study philosophy and world religions, you aren’t learning what to think – you’re learning how to think.
In our global society, we’re presented with new ideas, perspectives and information every day – and it’s more important than ever that we understand how to make sense of these complex issues and ideas.
Studying philosophy, religion and ethics, you’ll explore life’s fundamental questions, learn how to formulate a persuasive argument and dive deeper into understanding the world around you – all while creating your own place in it.
Why Study Philosophy?
Philosophy examines fundamentally human questions such as the nature of knowledge, the role of ethics, justice, and scientific inquiry, and even humanity itself. This rigorous discipline, helps students develop a mastery of analytical thinking skills and effective communication, giving them an edge in a global marketplace.
Why Study World Religions?
Religion asks the deepest, most important questions about human existence. Where do we come from? Why are we here? How can we live good lives? Different religions provide a variety of answers to these questions and the study of religion gives you the opportunity to explore these profound questions, and allows you to consider your own beliefs and values.
Why Study Ethics?
How do we decide what is right and wrong? Can a good action have bad consequences? How can we best make decisions about controversial issues like euthanasia, abortion, or the death penalty?
Navigating difficult topics with a listening ear and thoughtful approach can help the world solve complex problems. Studying ethics will give you the tools to do just that.
