Master of Arts in Mathematics (Secondary Teaching Emphasis)
We have had a Master of Arts program for secondary teachers as long as the department has offered graduate degrees. The Master of Arts in Mathematics (Secondary Teaching Emphasis) is designed to extend the content and pedagogical knowledge of secondary school mathematics teachers. The program incorporates a dynamic relationship between theory and practice, and focuses on the development of teachers as reflective practitioners and lead teachers. The program is offered at a distance using a cohort model in which groups of students move through the coursework together, with courses delivered online via eLearning. Some summer courses may require limited on-campus attendance, in addition to eLearning. The program is offered as a non-thesis option only, however requires a culminating research paper.
