Undergraduate Scholarships
Science education provides scholarships for all UNI secondary science teaching majors including comprehensive secondary science, middle level science, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics teaching majors.
UNI secondary science teaching majors as well as basic science and STEM education minors have access to scholarships specific to their major. Biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, middle level and elementary teaching majors should check for scholarships available from departments for those majors.

You may also be eligible for the TEACH Grant, in which recipients can receive up to $4,000 per year for four years as an undergraduate and two years as a graduate.
To apply for UNI scholarships, complete the following steps:
- UNI Scholarship Application (Due February 7)
- Statement of teaching goals may be asked
- Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which may be required for the scholarships you apply for (Due February 7)
- Identify UNI faculty and/or staff you may want to use for references
Undergraduate Scholarships
Science education offers the following four undergraduate scholarships (and 2nd BA) for secondary science teaching majors.

This scholarship supports future Iowa science teachers. Students must have the intention to teach in Iowa for at least three years after graduation. All secondary science teaching majors, including comprehensive secondary science, middle level science, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics teaching majors, are eligible. Financial need is required. Two or more scholarships approximately up to $4,000 total may be divided and awarded.

This scholarship provides support for deserving students with preference given to students who seek a broad educational and professional experience in the field of science education. Preference given to comprehensive and middle level science teaching majors. Financial need and junior standing required. Scholarship is renewable. One scholarship approximately up to $1,000 may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for students who are graduates of Cedar Falls High School with a major in the College of Humanities, Arts & Sciences in science education, biology, chemistry & biochemistry, earth & environmental sciences, and physics. Preference given to comprehensive secondary science, middle level science, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics teaching majors. Scholarship is renewable. One scholarship approximately up to $500 may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for comprehensive secondary science, middle level science and biology teaching majors. Students must demonstrate merit and financial need with preference given to students entering their senior year. One scholarship approximately up to $1,000 may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for secondary science teaching majors including: comprehensive secondary science, middle level science, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics teaching majors. Students must have enrolled in or completed a minimum of 65 credit hours as well as have been admitted to the teacher education program. GPA, financial need, and indication of promise of secondary science teaching may also be considered. One scholarship approximately up to $500 may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for secondary science teaching majors including: comprehensive secondary science, middle level science, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics teaching majors. Students must be sophomore or junior students who demonstrate merit (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5) and financial need. Students need to be a resident of Iowa. Two scholarships approximately up to $1,000 each may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for currently employed grades K-12 teachers who are fully admitted to the M.A. science education program or students who have a previous degree in related science field and who are fully admitted students seeking a second bachelor’s degree (2nd BA) in any secondary science teaching major. One scholarship approximately $1,000 may be awarded.

This scholarship provides support for students majoring in biology, chemistry or mathematics teaching. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be at least a sophomore. Scholarship is renewable. Multiple scholarships approximately up to $1,000 each may be awarded.
