An art school experience on a university campus – the BFA program at UNI is the best of both worlds.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is considered the professional undergraduate degree in art and design. The program is more intensive than a BA program, and emphasizes both breadth and depth of experience in the visual arts. BFA students benefit from learning professional practices and synthesizing work in a culminating exhibition in the Gallery of Art.
Many BFA graduates continue their careers in art by becoming professional artists and pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree. Former BFA students have gone on to graduate programs at such prestigious schools as Yale, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Cranbrook Academy, Columbia University, California Institute of the Arts and the Rhode Island School of Design.

What's the difference? BFA vs BA
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is considered to be the professional undergraduate degree that you can receive in the visual arts. This option is more intensive and structured than the BA program, and is an excellent preparation for graduate studies.
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
The Bachelor of Arts degree is less extensive than the BFA, but still contains essential art courses. This option is best for students with a strong interest in a particular area of emphasis and a desire to minor or double-major in another subject area. This enables you to tailor your academic career to fit your interests.
Career Prep
As a BFA student, you get to enroll in the BFA Seminar, which covers exciting current topics in the field, and as a senior, you get your own studio space to work in while you get ready for your senior exhibition in the UNI Gallery of Art!
