Studio Art: Drawing
Creativity at its finest
Drawing is a primary form of visual communication and creative expression that has been part of human culture since its earliest beginnings. It's a cornerstone of all visual arts and provides a foundation for growth and mastery of many disciplines both within and outside of the arts. It's also a discipline of its own. Immensely flexible, expansive, accessible and immediate, drawing can be the most direct path to generate and realize creative ideas.
Drawing majors will develop the capacity for powerful, effective personal expression. They also gain a deeper understanding of art as it relates to culture, to history, and to a rapidly changing world.
Faculty from many areas in the department contribute to teaching drawing. The area is a great place to get to know multiple faculty members, and approaches to the process. The drawing studio is a well-lit and flexible space with room for storage of materials and student projects. There is a reason it is the busiest room in the building!
