Internships

Get real-world experience before you graduate

We believe that some of the best learning happens outside of the classroom. A big part of preparing you for success is making sure you have real-world experience in the field before you graduate.

Our students are encouraged to complete an internship as part of their degree requirement. You can earn up to six credit hours through an internship, and make valuable connections for your future career.

Local Opportunities

Curious about what sort of internships you can get locally? Students in our department have previously interned at the following local organizations:

  • UNI Museum
  • Grout Museum
  • George Wythe State Park
  • Hartman Reserve Nature Center
  • Black Hawk County Park
  • Hickory Hills Park
  • KWWL TV

Ready to apply?

Students will need to contact and arrange with a supervisor at the internship site about the specific details for a project to be completed during the semester. Their faculty internship advisor at UNI will be able to provide information about the amount of hours per week required to work and the equivalent academic credits that can be earned.
