Interdisciplinary French Studies Minor

Broaden your knowledge of the French language, literature and civilization.

The Interdisciplinary Language Studies Minor: French is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge in French language, history, literature, business, and francophone culture that will complement the work they are doing in their major field of study.

This minor is designed for students majoring in content areas such as art history, history, vocal music, international business, geography, and global studies, as it will enrich their content knowledge and offer a global perspective on their subject.

Some Teaching majors earn an additional teaching endorsement in French-Teaching (secondary, grades 5-12). Students preparing an Iowa teaching license in another content area may elect to add a French endorsement to attach to that license. This requires 24 credit hours of French language courses and the Approaches to Language Learning and Teaching course (LANG 4740 - 3 cr.).
