English B.A./M.A. 4+1

The English 4+1 B.A./M.A. is designed for motivated students who want to earn both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in a total of five years. Current UNI undergraduate English or English-Teaching majors who are interested should set up a time to meet with Dr. Karen Tracey, English Graduate Program Coordinator, to prepare your application. 

Applications will include a writing sample from one of your English classes, a UNI transcript, and a recommendation from a UNI English instructor. Applicants are recommended to have at least a 3.5 GPA.

4+1 students will be able to choose between specialization areas in English Studies, Literary Studies or Creative Writing.
