25th Anniversary Season!
The 25th season of FTRS features unique readings, performances, and events, and (as always) a creative writing open mic on the final Thursday of each month at the Hearst Center for the Arts. Find out more and read interviews with featured readers.

The Final Thursday Reading Series is a collaboration of Final Thursday Press; the Hearst Center for the Arts; the UNI College of Humanities, Arts and Science; and the UNI Department of Languages & Literatures. Thursday, August 28 • Dave Hoing & Roger Hileman
Novelists Hoing & Hileman are the co-authors of Shun the Heaven: An Antebellum Mystery, a murder mystery set among theatres and travelling medicine shows from the mid-1800s. This event will also feature a performance of select songs from a musical adaptation of the novel.
Thursday, September 25 • Monica Roe
Roe is a young adult novelist whose work focuses on rural experience. Her novels include Air, the Wilderness Ridge series, and Thaw.

Thursday, October 30 • Ted Morrissey, Brady Harrison & Grant Tracey
Morrissey, Harrison, and Tracey are the co-hosts of A Lesson before Writing, a monthly podcast on writing, publishing, and teaching fiction. This pre-Halloween event will be a live recording of the podcast with a special focus on Horror and Gothic fiction.
Thursday, November 20 • Adrianne Finlay & Rachel Morgan
Finlay & Morgan are accomplished writers as well as the proprietors of Semisweet Soaps, an organization that sells handmade soap locally to raise money for type 1 diabetes research. This special “Sudsquicentennial” event will feature artisan soaps combined with short literary pieces. In-person attendees will receive a free sample of their work (as supplies last).
