New L&L Books—Spring 2026
A Shoeshine Kill (Twelve Winters Press) is the latest installment in the Hayden Fuller Mystery Series by L&L Professor of English Grant Tracey. During a historic 1972 hockey series between Canada and the USSR, professional-hockey-player-turned-private-eye Hayden Fuller finds himself trying to solve two different murders before the body count goes up. Tracey brings his signature hard-boiled prose and a love of hockey to this page-turning read.
L&L Associate Professor of TESOL & French Elizabeth Zwanziger is the lead author of the second edition of EntreCultures (Wayside Publishing). This multi-level textbook series teaches French language acquisition through an intercultural approach that immerses students in the lives of real teenagers from francophone communities.
The Sky is Broken is a hybrid fiction collection by English MA student Oluwatotomiisin Ilesanmi that tackles issues of migration, loss, and opportunity. Launched this December during a release rereading in L&L’s Bartlett Hall, this book offers an insightful and introspective look at complex experiences. Earlier this year, Ilesanmi also published a novella, Like Flowers Bloom. Both books are available for purchase in paperback and digital/Kindle formats.
English alumnus, Jim Sanders (‘71), is the author of Connections (Prolific Press), a chapbook of poetry set in locales ranging from suburban streets to the natural world. This collection captures the beauty of everyday experiences and draws out the significance to be found in daily life. "In brisk air and thinning light / Leaves change color / Falling to the ground / On frost-covered grass."
