Digital Media Production Major
Creating Digital Media Stories across a Range of Digital Formats
The digital media production major provides hands-on training from award-winning faculty for a range of media careers in television news and magazine shows, fiction, documentary and web/interactive formats. In our courses, you will learn how to develop scripts and screenplays, operate field and television studio cameras, design creative lighting, record audio for field and music events, and create compelling videos through editing and motion graphics.
The digital media production major is part of the Department of Communication and Media’s digital media program. With concentrations in digital journalism, digital media leadership and digital media production, the program is a hub of creativity, collaboration and innovation.
HD TV Studios
Our television studios include a high-definition news studio and workshop/sound stage.
ESPN+ Sports Production
One of the most popular student activities is working on The Valley on ESPN, a media team that covers UNI’s NCAA sports events for ESPN+.
KULT 94.5 FM Student Radio
This low power station is run entirely by students here at UNI. Positions are unpaid but credit may be earned.

Our Alumni
Mason Greer (BA, 2016) is a freelance actor, director, and a founder/producer at Thicc Boy Productions, and is based in Los Angeles. "The supportive staff and faculty and UNI gave me the guidance and space for me to figure myself out artistically and grow in my four years on campus. The willingness of other departments including music, theater and computer science to work in concordance with my department really gave me a well rounded education that serves me to this day," Mason said.
