Public Relations Minor

The public relations minor provides students with a foundational understanding of how public relations professionals manage relationships between organizations and their stakeholders, and manage the reputations of those organizations and brands.

Courses focus on developing skills in writing, strategic planning, relationship management and research that can be applied in any field – from business to government to entertainment and nonprofit.

This minor is an excellent complement to majors in business, advertising, journalism, communications, marketing or other related fields.

Award-Winning Chapter

The UNI Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is an award-winning organization which has won several “Outstanding Chapter” awards throughout the years.

In-House PR Firm

Our program’s in-house PR firm, Strategic PR, allows students to work with clients in the community to create and develop actual public relations campaigns. By working in an agency format, our students build leadership and technical expertise to prepare them for life after college.

In-Demand Skills

Effective communication skills are in high demand. Speaking, listening and critical thinking rank as three of the top five skills employers seek in potential workers.
