Endowed Writing Awards typically are offered on a yearly basis. Applicants must download and complete the Writing Awards Application in addition to meeting the requirements of the specific award.
Wendel Phillips Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This award is available to all English majors and minors. Applicants must be full-time students AND demonstrate talent and ability in creative writing. The scholarship in renewable if the student maintains GPA.
To apply for the Phillips scholarship, submit up to six pages of single-spaced poetry or twelve double-spaced pages of fiction or creative nonfiction.
Myrtle Telleen Collins "Spirit of Life" Creative Writing Scholarship
All undergraduate majors and minors in the Department of Languages & Literatures are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be full-time students.
To apply for the Collins scholarship, submit up to six pages of single-spaced poetry or twelve double-spaced pages of fiction or creative nonfiction. Additionally, attach a separate essay explaining how you demonstrate in your daily life an optimistic spirit, a love and concern for others, and the desire to fully embrace life's many experiences. In the body of your mail, indicate your name, UNI student number, major(s) and minor(s).
