Visit the Preserves
Welcome to the UNI Biological Preserves and Trails. Visitors may enjoy a variety of activities including:
- Walking or running
- Snowshoeing or cross country skiing
- Watching birds, identifying plants, photographing wildlife
- Following our iNaturalist project
- Volunteering for prescribed fire or invasive species work days
Please abide by the following rules:
- Do not cycle on unpaved trails
- Leash and clean up after pets
- No hammocking
- No unauthorized motorized vehicles
- No smoking
- Do not litter – carry out your trash

Trail Maintenance
Regular maintenance of trails, fencing, signage and vegetation is crucial to the Preserves. UNI students working for the Botanical Center keep the trails mowed and cleared of branches. If you are a student looking for work, contact Preserves Trails manager Stephanie Witte at the link below.
